Hello, I am not a JD person I'm more into cichla, but 2 years ago in Feb, I got my first Pbass's, I got some tank mates with them, all the tank mates were all sold but this guy. So I know this guys is about 2years old, I'm feeding bloodworms and cut up massivores. I am intrested in knowing how to sex JD's successfully without venting them. I personally don't like to vent them because it causes stress on the fish. and I get too much water on the carpet:D. So can anyone help me. I was told that the black dot in the middle of the body means its a male. Is that true? Please help!!!:Duploadfromtaptalk1380503941317.jpguploadfromtaptalk1380503974153.jpg

It's kind-of hard to tell on this one because he/she is faded but a pretty accurate way of sexing Dempsey's is the females have spotting right down their gill-plate while the males lower gill plate doesn't have as many or ANY spotting.

well he/she get dark at times, with very blue spots on the gill plates ill see if I can get pics
