I was wondering whether or not a diet of mainly super worms is ok for my jack dempsey. I raise the super worms and breed them myself and i keep them well nutritioned. i do feed my jack something else once in a while like vegetables, tilapia, etc, but mainly super worms. I was wondering if this ok because they do eat insects in the wild.

I would guess that a diet almost solely of worms might have some deficiencies. I would think the best diet would be a high quality pellet, with worms, veggies, tilapia, etc. supplemented into the diet. However I suppose if you could give your fish enough variety it would be fine mainly eating worms.

My observations of JDs in nature, though limited, seem to indicate that their normal diet is mostly algae and detritus. They try to eat the fry and adults of live bearers they are surrounded by, but miss 9 out 10 times, if not more.
i think super worms should be supplemented with a good general pellet, that contains a high algae content.
