Hi guys, finally I have to take out from my 120g malawi tank my Jack, he was chasing all crew from one side of tank to another when light go off. No one of my malawis got hurt, but it feels like he was terrorising his fellows.
Now he is in 50g (36L20H20W) with only pleco. Looks like he lost much of his color but he eats and swims.
What do you guys think, will he be ok alone? He grow up in tank with bunch of fishes and now he end up alone in much smaller tank, Im worried about his mental condition?
I was thinking about possible mate in new reality - maybe tiger barbs?? I know that they might become a snack but maybe its worth a try??

I personally would let the Jack Dempsey have the 50 gallon to himself. He has already claimed that nice driftwood.

I agree with tlindsey. Jack Dempseys are not huge fish but once he becomes full grown he will need that whole tank to himself. The dimension you gave for the aquarium come out as 62 gallon not 50. Even if it is 62 gallons the JD will use that whole tank as an adult.

This is red sea reefer 250. 200l tank + 50l sump. I gave measurements of whole tank, from bottom to top. Obviously the water line is an inch or so from the top. To get it right I would also need to minus glass thickness and believe me, it will be 50g aka 200l.
To be honest my friend footprint is more important then water volume.
