Jack Dempsey vs. Jewel Cichlid?

Can anyone tell me what the differences are between a Jack Dempsey and a Jewel Cichlid? We have a beautiful Cichlid in our tank but we aren't sure which type of Cichlid it is... I have looked up pics but there are some from each type that look like what we have. I am new to this but I will see if I can figure out how to put a pic on here... However my profile pic es the fish I'm refering to.

Thank you very much, that's what my husband and I thought but we were told it was an African Jewel Cichlid.

Yep. Definitly a jack dempsey. Jewel cichlids I believe have more of a pinkish color. Both have the "jewels" all over their body. Just google both of them, they are easily to tell apart.

not 100% true there are also turquois jewl cichlids witch are blue
