I recently purchased 2 Jack Dempsey's for my 75 gallon tank (1 is 3 inches the other is 4) 2 days ago & I noticed my water is kinda of cloudy compared to the other tanks that I have (they all started out clear), should I change some of the water?? The fish seem to very active, I was just curious about doing another water change so soon.

Hello...

Check your water first. If nothing else, it will give you something to compare to after the water change.

Are they the only two fish in the tank? If so, adding 2 fairly good size fish to an empty tank could cause the bacteria to bloom (essentially, you just added ammonia).

Yeah I checked the water, it's fine...yeah there 2 fish in the tank by it's self....do you think I should do a water change being the fact I've only had them for 2 days now?

Well, if all the parameters are 0, then I would let it run its course. I was thinking your nitrite level most likely was going to be a little bit high.

I would continue to monitor the levels.

yeah everything on the levels is fine, I guess it's just running it's course..just figured I'd ask, my zebra tilapia when I 1st introduced him to the tank had clear water sooner than later....might just be a luck of the draw kinda thing.

New decor, gravel?

did you wash them first... Did you wash the filter? media?

If your levels are 0 and your water is cloudy I would look there first...

All three are zero? Nitrite, ammonia and nitrate? That isn't really possible. Check again.
