I have a 4" female jaguar and a 6" male jack dempsey. I think they are showing signs of breeding but they never go for it. Like the dempsey will make a nest and the two will sit there for awhile and defend it but then the next day it's gone and the fish are swimming around on their own. but then the next they will have a nest in a different area and it starts all over. the current tank they are in is 180 gallons w/ a gar, clown knife, and ornate bichir. I really want them to spawn. How can i make it happen? I have a 75 that i could clear out for them. would that help if they were in their own tank?

here is a pic of how they sit together. this was taken before the jd started digging but they sit like this and defend the area.

she's mean now but she gets along with the Dempsey real well. I know it won't last but I know that the jag will probably end up having the 75 to herself at some point. I just want to breed them while I can.

What are you waiting for? Put them in their own 75 and see what happens, and if something happens make sure you update us with pics.
