Jack Dempsey x ?

I want to cross my female jack dempsey with something other than another JD. I was wondering what would be possible to cross her with.

I would prefer it to be something that gets to around 8"-12", easy to sex and easy to get.

I was thinking:

GT
Sal(not sure if i can find one)
Texas
Red Head

Any of these work? Any other suggestions? I would prefer the GT if i can get some sexing tips and if they can cross with JD's.

A jag would be cool, but they get a little bigger than what i'm looking for.

A texas may work, but thats what i'm trying to find out.

Thats what i'm saying. A GTxJD would be very tight. THey don't look that alike, but i saw one guy had Snookxparrots so its worth a shot.

How do you sex GT's?

male GTs have a lot more color, and much longer and pointer fins. males usually also have a "blockier" head and develop the nuchal hump as they get older. here's my male:

Dang, that thing is nice. Now imagine it with a JD's spangling....

I think i'm gonna do a GT. They're going to be in a 125 CA community type setup until they pair up (if they do) and then i'll get them their own tank.

i did some google searching and i couldnt find anythign. once link led back to a MFK thread where some guy was asking about a JDxGT cross, which then ended up getting flamed by dumb anti-hybrid purists
