I feed mine Hikari Cichlid Pellets, brine shrimp, and Spirulina pellets. Shes happy.

You could also try bloodworms, blackworms, krill, and flakes

He will most likely go after the krill before eating the pellets.

My JD will eat anything my girlfriend gives it. Damn thing will eat nothing I give it. When I even get near the tank, it goes straight for it's hiding spot. Go figure!
