the key to getting any fish to breed comes down to as perfect as possible water quality, quality feed and regular tank maintenance. another thing that can help is live foods, ie brine shrimp, blackworms and things like that. it usually stirs any fish up to breed.

Make sure you have a male and a female. Many people spend a lot of time trying to get 2 males or 2 females to breed because they can't sex the fish accurately. I also agree with the above.

haha good point aquafreak! maybe the best approach is to have 4-5 and let the pair form naturally
 
I agree w/Steve 86 on his first post. Specifically with JD, I used to have good luck with weekly water changes and feeding earthworms.

Be sure you have a male and female. Females will have blue blotches on the lower gill plate.
