I am almost done cycling my tank. We picked out 2 4 in JD to help cycle the tank. These fish seem some what agressive. I am about to pick up a sliver in the next couple of days. I am just wondering if the JD will attack my new sliver?

What size is the tank? JDs can be territorial and may be aggressive towards the arowana. I would recommend a silver of at least 10".

my jack d are 4inches and my jar is 8-9inches and they live together fine with no aggression, there some other fishes in there too such as angels, dwarf gourmai, id shark, and one convict. there's no fighting going on in the tank at all and i use to have 4 angels but the jar killed them 1 by 1 for 3 days so i only have 1 angel left... haha

They are fine!

I actually have a 7" arowana with two JD 1.5" amd 2" they wont attack an arowana unlike flowerhorns...

My silver arow got clip first by oscars then flowerhorns.. as long as those fish aren't there. your arowana is fine...

It will be a hassle, sooner than later....

:iagree: At very least and that is if the JD's are under 4" in my opinion ;)

Sorry man.. Jardini compared to Silver is like comparing a stuffed teddy bear (Silver aro) to Chuck Norris (Jardini Aro) ;)

JD's with silvers are fine...just make sure the silver is larger than the JD's

Not entirely true.. Depends on the fish and attitude...

This isn't experience enough with the two in my opinion to gauge whether it will work or not... Your 1.5" JD doesn;t even have and inkling of the traits it will at 4, 6 or even 12 inches ;)

This is the most likely end ;)

Though... It can be done.. I have done it.. I have seen it done.. Though.. it is hit or miss..

My Silver was 22" when meeting a pair of JD's 6 and 10".. Though I had to let the JD's go for exact reasons of NOT wanting to lose my Aros after the Jd's started their Pecking..

My friend kept his with a large aro.. his jd was 11" and his Aro was 20" Though the JD he had never attacked even a fish that would easily be stomached..

The JDs are about 4inches or so, I don't know the sex.
The sliver will be abouy 9-10 inches.
They are in a 125gl standard tank.
