Can't get one of my Jack Dempsies and my King Midas to stop fighting. I even lowered the water temperature, and it didn't work. Any suggestions? Are these guys even compatible?

Agree with the others, need to know the tank size first.
Hiding places can work, but never worked for me if 2 fish really hate each other.
Lowering temperature also never worked for me.
Only thing that ever worked is a big tank.

It's a 55 gallon. I'm working on a relocation right now. What are some Cichlids that you guys would suggest go well together?

I'm new to the Cichlid world.

Again, completely depends on the size of the tank. In a 55, you could probably do a couple firemouths and a severum or blue acara.

A 55 isn't all that big for new world cichlids. Going to 125+ will give you many more options. I would say your Jack and Midas will not along very well in a 55 no matter what you do.

you could do the jack alone in a 55 for a good long while if not forever and maybe even a firemouth or convict :)

My Firemouth decided the Jack, the Convict, the Severum, all 8 Black Skirts, and all 3 Spotted Pictus could live in the far left 1/3 of the tank (but don't touch any of the driftwood that's over there).

The remainder is his/hers.

Fortunately, he/she doesn't know who to dispense with first, so he/she pretty much safely gets the log, and a LOT of exercise.

Hopefully the OP gets a more agreeable Firemouth if they go that route.

Yeah unfortunately in that size tank they are probably never going to get along.

In my 55 gallon I have firemouths, T. pasionis, T. aureum, C. sajica, C. chetumalensis and H. sp. 'turquoise' along with a bunch of platies. It is a planted tank and I really enjoy it. However, BIG DISCLAIMER, yes I know the cichlid stock is going to have to be reduced as the fish continue to grow. I'll be selling some off and/or moving some to my larger tanks in the future as the need arises. :)
