would a very aggressive jack dempsey be compatible with fishes such as a convict or a green terror? My J.D. is currently residing in a 20 gallon tank with no other fishes. He sadly killed my bicher and pleco, which totally sux. I do not want to risk another one of my fishes to die, so please reply and tell me as much as you can.

you need a bigger tank then you might be able to have tank mates

Try some other cichlids. Go to Walmart and get some there. They are cheap and disposable (around four dollars). If your JD kills them, move him to the white porcelin goldfish bowl in the bathroom and then get a new JD and some nicer looking cichlids.

(kidding about flushing the JD).

It'll kill anything that gets in that 20g. The tank is now it's territory. If you want to get more fish, you need to get a bigger tank. But I think the JD would be cool by itself in the 20g alone:D

Come on people, are you kidding? That tank is way too small for a JD, even by itself.

JD get about 12". what are the dimensions of your tank? i know my 20gallon is 12"w and that would barley give the fish room to turn around

You just agreed that a 20 is fine with the jack alone and now your telling the guy a twenty isn't good enough. if you can't give advice on your own, then don't.

Yes a JD gets too big for a 20G But it will stille be able to be used as a Grow out tank.
