Hey everyone, I just bought 1 Jack Dempsey at about 1.5 inches, and 2 Firemouths at 1.5 inches each and I have them in a 55 now...

My question is how fast do these fish grow?
Do I need to upgrade the tank size and if so, when would I need to upgrade my tank?

You just have the 3 fish in the 55? They should be fine in there for life. Firemouths dont get very big. Biggers always better though.....

Not sure how quickly exactly they grow but I know that the JD's don't grow that fast. I've had mine for about...7 months and think they've grown very little.

In terms of tank size, I cannot be entirely sure but I think technically you can keep one JD in a 55 for life.

Yes they are the only fish in the 55.
Wait so ONLY a Jack can live in the 55 for life, or can he live with the firemouths?

As long as they are getting along I wouldnt worry about it much if they do outgrow it will be awhile. I keep my pair of JDs in a 55 and they seem to do fine appear happy and are horny enough to give me alot of babies.

Haha "horny enough to give me alot of babies". Yes, they are getting along great, no aggression what-so-ever.

i've heard the opposite, that they are completely territorial and attack anything that moves basically, but then again i don't have one and found that one the internet haha.

Yeah I read the same thing...maybe mine don't fight because theyre still small? idk.

If they start to show aggression, you could consider moving things around in the tank since they are territorial.

Good advice JOEG, thanks. Yeah the first time they show aggression ill have to do that.
