Does anyone know if Jack Dempseys have to reach a certain age or size before they can breed. I just got some smaller jacks in a 20 for now until two pair off. I was just wondering. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

approx min. breeding sizes: 3" male, 1.5"-2" female

just because you have a male and a female in the tank does not mean that they will breed, though; it takes a fair portion of Luck as well.

Ya I know I got 3 females and 3 males in my 29 right now. Was just wondering if they had to be a certain size or anything. Females are around 2 and half inches and males are about 3.

it could be hours or months or years before anything happens, fortunately id wager on "months" for your setup

Aight thanks for all the info. Hopefully months is the answer for my situation. Even if they take longer at least they are awesome to watch in the tank. I like these fish a lot.

just wait till your males reach 6-7" and flare.... its amazing. true Kodak moment. mine was doing it just a few mins ago till my larger salvini chased him off. I sure wish I had a camera.
