good day everyone =) i bought these 4 jacks from a local fish store. just wondering if you guys can help me to id the kind of jacks they are. thank you

here are some pictures. sorry bout the crappy pics. couldnt get them to stay still long enough to snap a decent pic .

@2 columbians I got them from a store that had them in pure freshwater. I was kinda hesitant as I knew that jacks are saltwater fishes because we fish for them when we go fishing. The owner then showed me 3 adult specimens he had in his upstairs office which he had for more than a year. He took pics of it from when it was small up to now.

@oddball oh ok. Thanks for the info. would you happen to know at how big would they need the increased salinity? need to do more research on these fishes...

No idea on exact size to salinity requirements. I've seen up to 2" shoals in FW regions of deltas, 4" specimens in estuaries, and over 4" in brackish to marine conditions. In all of the dives I've made around PI, I've never seen large trevally (foot+) near FW outlets. BTW, this species grows to around the 4 foot mark. Little smaller than the golden trevally but, not by much.

oh nice info... will do more research on these guys looks like ima convert my pond to saltwater real soon. hahahaha. good thing saltwater is not a problem over here. thanks for your inputs bud.
