Hey everyone. I was wondering if adding 2 jacks to my tank that already has jacks would reduce the aggression. Id of course raise them to approximate size and what not. As it is, my biggest is a bully to its mate, and to avoid killing the weak, i thought maybe adding a few more would reduce the pecking order. Or remove the mate and keep them single. Thoughts?

More Dempsies means spreading out the aggression over more fish. Ever think of why mbuna fanciers keep so many fish per tank? Gives the aggressor more fish to pick on thus keeping him from focusing on just one.

Okay, i was hoping that would help a bit. The tank is a 120. 4x2 footprint. It has two oscars and just the one jack for right now. The oscars will eventually be moved to there own tank with more docile tank mates. I have a red texas that is a brutal beast that im hoping to get back in with all the jacks. Its not looking good for that combination however. I have the smaller jack that i already owned in a 55 and will add 2 more, that are about 1 inch less in size. Luckiky the ones i found wernt too small. Ill get them adjusted and try it out. I figured it would be interesting dealing with cichlids. My african tank is pretty full. Lots of different fish mixed and there a pretty wholesome community. Not a lot of major aggression issues.
