My problem is they now are rubbing against rocks and the sand subtrate, I am suspecting ich/ick. My local store(petsmart) in a big town west of me carries API super ick and madel copper something rather, where the store(petco) in the big town east of me have this expensive orange/blue box of ick stuff and the tetra anti-ick stuff. Would any of these suffice or should I order better stuff on the internet?

I have 2 black BNP, 1 albino BNP, Malaysian Trumpet Snails, and 5 jacobfreibergi's in my 55 gal, and a rainbow shark with now 3 tiger barbs(had 5) in my 10 gal. I know the 10 gal is infested with ick, the 55 gal is what I had questions about.

API super ick works fine! But you should also use salt!!! Salt and heat are very important!!!! Do you have a heater??? And are you sure your fish aren't just flashing eachother and marking their territory? Because I've seen African cichlids rub against things to mark their territory!! It's like when a dog pees.. They're marking their territory. But with fish it's with their slime coat.

I haven't noticed them doing it until a week ago or so, I just took a gander at them, don't see any white "grains of rice" on any of them. Temp is at 82 degrees F at the moment, did a 30% WC two days ago, Nitrates is around 10ppm and the other two are near zero, ph is 8.2

What would you recommend my next course of action be?

My 10 gal tank that has ick for sure, temp is 86 degrees F and did a 40% water change two nights ago, treating with 4 tablespoon of seasalt.

I think the sticky in the health &disease section describes it well.

Heat and salt WILL cure ich, really no need for meds. I just had an outbreak in my 500 with some fish I got from livefishdirect.com all I did was raise the temp to 84, added salt and have not seen a trace of it in weeks. I also add a liquid garlic supplement to the NLS pellets I feed.
