I swung by my lfs today and they had a few jade goby's. I think they are awesome, especially the one they have that is close to a foot. I don't know much about these and would like to know some before buying them. Some questions:

Are they fresh water for life?
Will they eat frozen food or pellets?
Will they eat a young delhizi bicher?

I need any info anyone can give.

Jade gobys are one of the largest growing sleepers. they can grow to 2 feet but usually 12-14 is what ive seen in home tanks. They do well on small live foods, frozens foods and pellets. They seem to grow the best and have the best colors with heavy veggies in there diet. They are very hardy and robust and can mix with most all large species in a large community including cichlids. Although they are more filter feeders in the wild the will eat small fish that thet can catch.

This species is one of a few that can live out its life, and spawn, in either fresh, brackish, or marine waters. Curiously, their mature size increases in environments with increased salinity.

Thanks for the info! Will they eat anything that can fit in their mouth? A small delhizi, for instance?

The tank I'm considering putting one into has Oscars so there are no live plants! I think I'm going to sell my delhizi because he's growing to slowly and will soon be eaten!

I've kept one. Aggressive towards my datnoid actually.
But all fish in my tank were 4 inches and up with the goby being about 6 -7 inches.
Oscars should be great and live plants are encouraged.
Mine tried eating my fake plants all the time haha.
Females have the best colors too.
Have fun! They are awesome fish :)

Okay cool! I'll probably be getting one in the next month or so
