I would like to find out about jade gobies eating habbits. I have to of them i got from my LFS and i put food in and they only eat what falls in front of them they dont move around the tank hardly at all. I have put brime shrimp cubs and bloodworms cubs and algae wafers. And the other fish i have is 2 balla sharks/ 2 silver tips/ 2 bichers/ rainbow shark/ and a pelco they eat everthing i put in and the other to dont get much because it like there waiting for it to come to them. So if its moving around the tank and i goes by them they will eat it. One is 3.5 in and the other 4in. what should i do. thanks for reading this post.

So this is at least a 75 gallon tank, right? They shouldn't feel too cramped in there, then. In smaller tanks they seem to sit still a lot more as far as I've seen. I think they're afraid to invade others' space or something. They are very peaceful creatures and seem to avoid confrontation, and are easily abused by more territorial fish.

What are the water parameters? nitrate, nitrite and ammonia, and pH?

In my experience, they got more aggressive and territorial as they got larger but nowhere near the level that some cichlids reach so keep that in mind for the future.

parameters are nitrate 0, nitrite 0, and ph is 7.8 my tap water is 7.8 i never have any problems with my water i have live plants and drift wood and honey come rocks. and my gravel is nat tone pebbles. the silver tipped sharks are 5in and 6in the balla sharks are 3.5 and 4in the rainbow is 3in and the pelco is 5in and the jade gobys are 3.5 and 4in and the bichers are 4 amd 5in

You need to reread the instructions on your nitrate test and try it again. The fact that you won't tell us what size your tank is tells me it's too small, and the fact that you use words like "pelco", "bicher" and "balla" tell me you don't read things much. Jade gobies don't tolerate nitrates well so it's very important to get a real number for that parameter.

i have a 75 gallon tank and i check the my water every few days and i take a water sample to my locale fish store each week and i will post a pic of my tank aswell and sorry about the i dont have nitrate test but i have the nitrite but when i take it to the lfs they say my water is fine...when i go there this weekend i will get the real number in the nitrate test. but yes i have a 75 gallon and here are the pics of the tank and the fish as well i have no reason to lie to anyone on the internet.

I also have 2 Jade Gobys. I have them in a 140 gallon tank with various Cichlids , 5 Clown Loaches , a few Plecos and 8 Silver Dollars. They tend to hide most of the time or come out an hour before the light goes out. They have been eating floating pellets but they do not seem to be as aggressive of eaters as the cichlids and dollars are. I also throw pieces of raw peeled shrimp in sometimes too. I guess if they feel like it they eat it kind of thing ....

This thread is from 2011. I'd be surprised if the person even still has the fish.
