So I have the opportunity to pick up a juvi domestic Jag and a juvi wild Red Terror. Do you think they would work in a 125 (which I can buy today) or should I order a 180 and risk not being able to get them?

in the 125 if its a female festae then u should be ok.

I think the 125 should work. My female festae is relatively tame compared to my Silver Suam so its possible that you might end up with a female that is kind of lax. I'd make sure there are plenty of hiding places though cause as soon as both my S. Suam and Red terror started laying eggs they both got a lot more aggressive.

This might be a stupid question but will a female lay eggs even if a male is not present to pair up?

Red_Terror, what would be good dither in a tank like this? Should I throw a male convict and another large-ish cichlid in there? I don't want these guys to kill each other.

My female Festae always hated other Festae but couldn't care less about other fish.

Redhook Silver Dollars. Go with at least 3.

They're not territorial like cichlids. Adding convicts for dithers may cause issues.

Mine is laying eggs now... no male. I have a pair of cons in there to act as dithers. S. Suam, Red terror and two cons.
