I wouldn't mix them.. But I think 220 would make a gorgeous species tank for a pair of Jags...

You have two fish that are very aggressive by nature. If you put them in at the same time and when their small you run a better chance of it working. Personally I think Dovii's should be kept by themselves or in a pair in a tank by themselves. With an "average" male size of 20"-24" you could keep it in a 220(standard) by itself.

i already have a jag pair in a 130 gallon. so im gonna move them to the 220 gallon. believe i could put anything with them?

Umm.. If you plan on breeding them, probably not. :D

If you don't plan on breeding, anything you try will be hit or miss, depending on the temperament of your pair. If not breeding, I'd probably pick some other larger fish, and put them in the 220 first, and then about 2 weeks later, put your female in, and then another 2 weeks or so after that, introduce your male. This will let everyone else attempt to stake out a territory for themselves.

(Oh, and keep a divider handy just in case)

lol. my pair is breeding in the 130 gallon right now. they have a pair of cons in there as tankmates. they just make cons stay at one end of the tank and by end of the tank i mean about a square foot of space. No damage done to cons though.

Sorry but the average male does not get to 20-24" that sounds like a google cut and paste.

Do you keep Dovii?

Cause usually the males realistically get to around 18" sometimes bigger but I have never seen a 24" male Dovii in an average tank.

Male Dovii and Jag will fight in that tank mate.

I have had to split my Dovii up as they have been bossing around the bigger jags at present.

Would look at either keeping 1 or the other.

Personally my vote is with the Dovii but thats my opinion.

And yes you can keep a male in a 220 gallon tank forever.

So many people will say otherwise but they rarely get to the monster size people say.

180 g is minimum for an adult male, the more space the better.
