so i have a jag that's about 4 or 5 in and he keeps digging huge holes in my sand witch in turn is pulling up my amazon swords. i guess my question is there anyway i can stop him/her from from digging these craters?

I have not found a plant that isnt tied down that works in my american tank. Anubias and javas work when tied down. Just too much digging for the substrate plants.

I dont think you can tie down swords. Maybe pay attention to where your fish dig. There may be a part of the tank they leave alone you could put it. If that wont work, you could pile some rocks lightly around your plant "protecting" that spot from being moved.

yeah the putting rocks around the base has worked for me in the past, you could also put the plant in a pot and then bury the pot

Whats worked best with my jag is I'll make his cave and put a bunch of sand in then I 'predict' what direction he will dig up (he has a massive mountain of sand when he is finally done) and i just simply place my plants in the way of the future mountain of sand.. sounds silly but they dont go anywhere.
