my friend has a 110 with numerous fish in it (Jag, pike, red devil, texas, salvini, gt, 2 jd's and a big pleco. my question is this. has anyone ever heard of a jaguar mating with a red devil? lately the two have been doin a lot of pre-breed behavior including nipping chasing and such. now the two of them have dug a hole in the corner of the tank and are sitting in it together rubbing on each other shaking. plus none other then the 13" pike dare come down from the top of the tank with a recent death of the texas(no doubt due to their actions). and when he went to fill the hole back in his jag charged him mouth agape. anyone ever heard of this? if the eggs are planted and fertilized what are the odds of live hatchlings? we have been in the hobby for a while but are looking for the knowledge of the few who devote their lives to this hobby, thanks.

i forgot the male jag is about 9" and the devil is about 8". no he dosnt have a dig camera and with my move i am not able to help him as we live 1400mi away from each other. sorry.

Yes anything is possible, i had a 5"Salvini and a 4"Convict both who just reached adulthood have fry to my surprise. But in reality these fry are hybrids and most fish stores sell hybrids for little to nothing so there's no income for the owner of the fish to continue to breed them so i seperated the two and fed the babies to my FH......

wow, i would think these hubrids would be worth more as how many people are gonna have a red devil and a jag pair up.... oh well thanks for the info

they will likely breed but we'll have to wait to see if the fry develop
suck some out and save them its like a red texas only some of them may turn out awsome others will be poorer

is a red texas a texas red devil hybrid? it would be sweet if it turned out to be a all red jag or a red devil with jag patterns. lets hope good more then bad. but like i said it hasnt happened yet just appears like it will. ill keep ya updated.

just si everyone knows, they have indeed bred and the eegs are now waiting , as soon as they hatch ill let eveyone know. i hope they turn out good!

I have a Jag and a Tex that frequently spawn thousands of fry, so chances are you're good.
As cool as it is breeding your own hybrids, I'm against putting them on market. I'd keep some for ones self and turn the rest into feeders. Oh wait, that is what I do.
