Anyone have any ideas how to get Jaguar Cichlids to stop having babies, and not taking one away, I have even tried to add a 9" cat to mabey eat the eggs/fry and algea. The Jags tore him a new one, no more cat. We have now had somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 babes now and the pet stores are not taking them any more.

I thought if that but I'm not running a heater as it is, and I think that if I raise the temp wouldn't that just make it worse?

I'm a little afraid to do that might draw back a stump, these guys are freaking viscious. If you put hand on top of tank will jump to try to attack, but I can net them then do that. I feel bad killin the eggs though mabey just have to learn to deal with. I heard that adding salt with this fish deters breeding, not sure that it is true though.

id say its a difficult one as there built to breed,, get a cork and bung up there breeding tubes:WHOA:

here phone up a vet and see if you can get them spayed:ROFL:

no seriously either do as someone said and use fry as feeders or just remove the eggs, dont feel fear for the fish just go for it and get a net to keep parents away from you:nilly:

You need same sex Jags or they're going to do what nature intended.

I recently sold my female and now have 2 males. I never ended up with grown fry because they're in a community tank but my other fish had shredded fins. My Lenticulata tore thru the most fry and would even stay in place chomping on eggs while taking a beating from 2 Jags at once, eating big mouthfuls of eggs.
