jag barely eats

how come jags are not big eaters when they hit around 9-10 inches? the other jag i bought did the same thing, does this mean he wont grow?

my male chows like a pig. he about 9" female less aggressive about it. she about 8" in separate tanks for now after last spawn. what size tank they tank they in and are they rather dark, rather than bright bronze?

What you mean by not a big eater? My big boy would take a dozen or more pellets during a feeding by himself and these where the medium sized hikari bio gold. Granted I only fed him every three days or so

i was using the hikari mike but changed to Aqueon cichlid pellets , jumbo slow sinkers. larger pellet, like the ingredients better and has a little more protein for the jags.

he's bronze. hes top dog in the tank. i wish he ate more so i could see some more growth

Only way to increase growth is jack up the water temp,put it by itself and water changes aplenty. A 9-10 inch jag is gonna have slower growth that's just the way it is. It took my male roughly 2 years to go from 11 to 14. Just be patient, besides as it grows it's only gonna start hating everything else in the tank

i agree mike, just asking for temp to see if water a little cool, I do not suggest jacking the temp up to have the fish grow faster. 77 to 79 fine. keepers as a whole, including me tend to way over feed our fish.
