I have 2 jags one a little over an inch and the other a little over 2 inches, they are both very passive and my oscar and jack dempsey both bully them. How long till they stop taking crap from the jack and o and stick up for themselves

How big are your other fish ? Once jags reach about 6" mark the aggression starts its getting them to that size that's always been my problem

Imo the tables will turn once they settle in especially if there a pair , give them a hide / cave to defend

that's weird, oscars aren't normally that agressive and the jd is tiny. And jags are soposed to be super agressive, mine sure is.

If you have an aggressive male...soon as he figures out he can take the others out. How big is the O & JD?

At that size the jags are not going to be monsters. I would watch to make sure they don't get jacked up too bad. They will grow at about 1in or so a month till 10in then slow down drastically. Thing about CA cichlids & jaguars particularly everything will be fine for awhile then one day something will snap & you will wake up/come home to carnage with one fish swimming around that claimed the tank as his own.

Jaguars are very territorial, but their aggression is overrated. However nature did give them the weapons to take another fish out in a hurry if & when they choose though. Same size oscar is asking for trouble & a JD doesn't grow fast enough to fight off a jag.

My big male is aggressive and defends his pipe to the death , but ive had a couple of small females killed in grow out tanks with other cichilds similar size , its like they know its a future threat so they see it off early , same thing happend to my small 4" dovii
