ok I posted earlier that they started courting and pit making yesterday. Looks to me they have completed the pit and are still making the place more comfortable. The female is about 10" and her... (excuse my ignorance but I don't know what it's called, but i'll call it her breeding tube) breeding tube has just stuck out and looks to be very redish pink. It's clearly the female because her tube is as wide as a truck and the males is almost like a ball point pen. Is this normal with the female during egg laying??? or could this be some kind of infection?? I was thinking maybe from all the rubbing on the stones and stuff???

it sounds like it is sore from rubbing it on rocks my Female beats herself up a little when she lays eggs. Last time she had a few marks on her head and a scraped up lip from all the digging. The vent tube may be sore as they will scrape it on things to attach the eggs.
