Jag cichlid ????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They are awesome fish. Some are toothy, and they have great patterns and colors. They do get big, which could be a downside to some. You can expect 14 inches. Maybe more. A con is that there is a good chance of getting a blood thirsty psycho killer when you purchase a jag.

Pro's: They're awesome fish with great personality, they do sometimes become extremely aggressive. Cons: They do get big, 13-16"s in a lot of cases and also depending on male/female.

With fish, it's temperament is dependent on the individual fish. Some are more docile then others, while some are complete psychos. That can be with ANY fish though.

jags..
a fish that will keep you hooked onto the parachromis species forever..
I like to think a jag is a calmer dovii.
I have kept 4 in the last year
ranging from 4 inches to 16 inches..
Right now my 16 inch male is as calm as can be.. lives with pbass and discus and an arowana and also lived with rays..
but he was a killer last year.. his list includes MANY dithers.
yellow labs, oscars, green terrors and the list goes ON AND ON
seems like once they hit 8 inches they go psycho then once they reach 14+ they become puppies and actually get bullied

But it does not replace peoples personal experiences. Which is the point of this site.

Both have a place.
From the sounds of it this guy wants to be spoon-fed everything there is to know about jags. If he wants to know "some info on them" then he should do his own research as there's a wealth of information on the net about them, if he has a specific question that would be better answered with personal experiences then here is the place to ask it.

The question is the pro's and cons of having a Jag, I don't think Google or search can answer that. Since each fish is different, a lot of people will have different pro's and different cons with them.
