I have a 135 gallon tank (6'x18"x25") which is currently home to a 10" flowerhorn. The tank looks very empty, and I am considering adding a managuense of similar size to the mix. I was just looking for others' experiences or input on this. I am unsure how the aggression will pan out. I plan on taking the fh out and rearranging the tank before adding the manny. Thanks in advance for your help!

How aggressive is the Flowerhorn?

IMO, this will most likely not work, especially when introducing them at 10".

I wouldn't do it but I'm not you :-).....You'd have best luck for success (absence of murder) by adding a few other fish with the managuense....several convicts would be good. This would give your two heavyweights something to chase and distract them from each other for a bit. Also, LOTS of aquascaping cover so they're not always eye to eye.

Well, the way I see it you have a 50/50 chance. Sometimes it works out just fine (but usually when they're younger), and other times it doesn't. I agree with the person who said you should add something more than just a Jag. Typically it's better to add 2 or more at a time to keep the territorial aggression down.

Let us know what you end up doing!

He beat the hell out of a pleco, but that's the only experience I've had with him. He's never been with a Gish that can hold its own since I've had him. I will probably try the technique of adding a couple convicts or JD's. Thanks for the advice. I will keep u guys posted.
