Jag grow out group numbers for pair?

Looking to stock a 6x2x2 in near future for a jag cichlid pair what size group of juvies should I grow out to get pair? Thanks in advance

That depends on how long you want it to take to get down to one fish! lol

I suggest a minimum of six and a maximum of however many you want to deal with as they grow.

Thanks for the reply I can imagine they aren't the easiest to rehome what size would u say I could sex them at? Maybe try to source a young male and female save the rehoming/ getting more tanks lol
 
It has been my experience that around four inches you can start to see a difference in the pattern. You may have better response if you post this in the CA cichlids section.

You need to let the male and female pick each other out of a group, that way you will get a compatible pair. Just adding a male and female together ends badly, if your lucky they might spawn once before the male kills her.
Get a group of six or more and let a pair form out of that, then sell the rest.

Okay sounds like the better option to get a group got a couple weeks to source them. Thanks for your help guys :cheers:
