How fast do Jaguar's grow? I 've had one for about 4 or 5 months now and he really hasn't grown much. He's only about an 1" to an 1.5"! I feed him 2 to 3 times daily. Do regular water changes. The tank is 55 gallons and is filtered by two Emperor 400's. Water temp is always about 78. I would have guessed he would be bigger than this by now, but nope.

Maybe you got a runt? My jag is growing very well He's in a 90 with a few other cichlids. I would say he grows abou .5"-1" a month. Ive had him since mid Feb and hes has atleast doubled in size probably more.

My Jag grew pretty quickly...yeah...maybe you got a dwarf or something

Well...good to hear that someone has had a similar problem. I have 3 Jag's in a 75G (used to have six, but you know, conspecific aggression). They've been in the tank for 4 months now, and were 2" when I purchased them...they're only 2.5" now. I have 12X filtration or more, do 1-2 water changes a week, temp at 80, feed them hikari and omega one, and yet little growth has occurred. A friend of mine is running a similar setup, feeding the same, and has had the same growth rate. Perhaps the entire batch we had bought our Jag's from was low quality. I'm going to make up a beefheart mixture for them so I can get some growth!

females i have had grow slower
maybe you have a female
my last female jag was only 7" after 18 months

i used to always have jags cause theyre my favorite and it seemed like back then they grew pretty quickly.
what else is in there with your jags? if they are getting bullied they wont grow for****! itd have to be an only fish in a 55!
try to feed them nightcrawlers! mine love them and they realy beef up thye fish!

Bump up the temp to like 80-82.

You may have runts. Out of every group of cichlids I get, one usually stays smaller than the others. Maybe you got unlucky.

yea sounds like you have a runt maybe......i've had my jag for a little over a month and hes grown almost over an inch........
