I was wondering about Jags and there sex again. At the petstore there are inch to inch and a half jags and some are dark almost black and the other are slightly bigger but faded with a black stripe. Are the bigger ones males or are the darker ones? If it doesnt matter what do you think causes such a difference? I dont think that some were stressed and some werent. I was hoping i could have a better chance of finding a male with your help?

Sorry I cant tell the sex but I think that they are not stressed because I have a 3" jag that changes from dark (almost black) to a lighter color with stripes. I think it just has to do with the mood of the fish. Even though mine changes color it eats well and acts normal. No troubles. Sorry if I was of no help.

Ive got about 4 males jaguars. Ive bought them since they are a little over 1.5".
What I did is look really closely for the top and bottom fins for some shade of blues and more likely males are bigger with more patterns all over the body.
If it is impossible to pick a male, buy about 5 little jags and more likely one would be a male.

5 little jags? that can probably be confusing. i think sicklid-holic meant buy 5 of the largest of the little jags. if not, sorry for puttying words in your mouth sick. :)

Ok sounds good but the larger ones are the lighter colored guys. The smaller ones are very dark with alot of pattern to them thats why its confusing me.
