Maybe it’s a gold jag? They don’t have the same pattern as the wild type.

Looks like the environment is darker that he’s in which may cause darker colors. That’s my guess anyway. Either way beautiful fush
This is also a good option. Many cichlids show very different in light vs dark surroundings. duanes duanes has a lot of pics on this.
Could also be stress from the Oscar, but I doubt any self-respecting jag that size would let itself be pushed around by all but the meanest of oscars lol.

Yeah the Oscars run the tank but he’s definitely third in charge. He’s not friendly with the Texas cichlid in the tank I’ll have to take the Texas out soon

The patterns scream hybrid parachromis to me
