Hey guys,

I have a 10" female Jag and a 8" male JD.

Both of these guys have a bump on their right side, just above their bellies. The bump is about the size of the fin next to it. The scales are not sticking out, and there is no discoloration or anything. It's like a bump under the skin. The Jag is always hungry and seems to be in great health. The JD has not eaten in a long time. The JD is not as aggressive as usual, and has not been for a few weeks now. He definitely is not his normal self. He completely avoids the Jag and runs away from him, which is whack as he would always stand his ground before he stopped eating. The JD is about 4-5 years old.

I am treating the tank with Jungle Parasite Clear. This has always worked for me in the past when my fish have a suspected internal parasite, or any other visible ailment.

Anyhow, I dipped the JD in a strong Parasite Clear solution for 30 minutes, and then put him back into the main tank. The main tank has is being treated as per the instructions on the box.

What i just noticed though is the weird bump on their sides. Is there an internal organ that is on the right side of these cichlids, and not in the center of them?

Wow! Great resource. Thanks a bunch.

It does sound like the bottom one when it says the swelled intestine pushes the liver to the side.

Hopefully this Jungle Parasite Clear helps to cure the disease.

Does anyone else have experience with this medication?

Well about 20 hours after dosing, the JD seems to be doing better. He is more actively swimming but still not eating.

I did get a lot of hope though when i saw a small piece of ghost white poo coming out of him. He hasn't taken anything in or out in quite some time, so i hope his infection/blockage is passing!

Well its been 48 hours now and he is still not interested in food.

He did go and provoke the Jag into a battle though. He used to love to go over and pick fights with the Jag, but once he got sick he's just been moping around and calling up ex-girlfriends but hangs up when they answer the phone..?

Should I wait a day, change the water and then treat the tank again?

The JD really is my favorite fish, i've had him for at least 4 years since he was only 1.5" long. He has gone on 2 road trips with me to college. He's a very pretty fish.

I am concerned that he may not pull through. He does look alright but he hasn't eaten in weeks!

When my Oscar had an internal blockage problem, I was advised to try Epsom Salt baths. 1 tablespoon for each 5 (US)gallons of water.
I haven't tried since I had problems finding Epson Salt, but I have read on quite a lot of sites, about how Epsom Salt Baths are good for constipation and bloat.

I own lots of fish, including 2 JDs, and YES, I love them, too!:)
Good Luck!!:)

Also, (I forgot to mention), if by chance your JD will eat peas (shelled peas), peas should work well to get your JDs' stomich moving.

Good Luck,again!!

I tossed an almond in there because i remember he used to love them about a MONTH ago, and he gobbled it right up.

What the hell.

Well he's definitely not getting fed for as long as it takes if he's going to be that stubborn. I am still not sure what is with the lump on the side though.

I think that the Jag is just loaded up with eggs and is coincidentally bloated. Her pecker is hanging down, and i'm pretty sure she's trying to shack up with the JD, and he wants none of that.
