Still not entirely sure, so I'm turning to the pros. S/he is about 6" and a messy eater. Hoping its a gal.

How can you tell?
My other jag is obvious that he's male (i think, he's in my avatar) mainly because of his super long dorsal fin. And I was just comparing them, and my littler one looked different so I assumed female.

It's a male, the male is bigger bodied, bigger mouthed

Male...but that last picture (judging by fin) looks female. But for the most part, it looks male.
I'll agree, thats what I thought because of the fin. The other pictures make it look pointed but it's rounded. And the coloring is usually a little lighter more like what is in picture 2.
