Jag. Male or Female

Been growing out 5 Jags since they were fry In a 90. They are now 4-5 inch.These are pictures of the biggest/most dominate of the group. For sure keeping this one. Hoping he/she pairs off soon. So what do y’all think male or female

Think your best gonna have to wait. A pair will show sooner that later. I recently had spawn from Jags under 3 inch. Now that was surprising for me. Still can't sex them lol

I agree with Andy. I think you may need to wait it out. I couldn't sex them from the pictures yet.

Yeah I was looking at the pictures myself thinking there’s no way. Side note Andy woods cichlids uk is the reason I got into black nasty. JCB!!!

I’ll guess male, just a guess though. It’s very unscientific, but the females I’ve raised had much more vertical barring under the lateral line at that size. Nice fish either way buddy.

Finally a pair. The fish pictured above which was the biggest most dominate of the group turned out to be female.

Thanks . Yeah they are quickly becoming my favorite. I was kind of dissapointed with them when they were 1-4 inchs long. They were really shy and dithers didn't really work to bring them out but now that they are around 5 inches they are really coming to life.
