I just recently got a larger jaguar cichlid(10 inches) and I'm having trouble getting him to eat. Any suggestions?

Its a male. Thursday coming up will make it 3 weeks. He went into my established 125, he's the biggest fish in there. He ate 3 ghost shrimp yesterday and that was it.
We need more info on what you have been feeding him. Jags will often not eat pellets after being fed live food.

Dude I got him from said he ate any type of pellets and frozen foods. I've got him to eat 3 ghost shrimp and bloodworms.

If you're providing live food he probably won't take the pellets. I have had several Jags over the years that got stuck on live food (particularly feeders) and wouldn't convert back to pellets until forced. There are some great posts and stickies on here about converting to pellets. Variety is the key of course, but you'll probably have to decide whether you want to keep the live food as the staple or force him to convert back to pellets. Maybe give him just what he will eat for now until his health has stabilized ( assuming he's a little malnurished) and then make the move to pellets. My $0.02!
