i was thinking of restocking my 105 gallon (42x23x25) and was thinking of getting a jag Parachromis managuense, ive been told that my tank would be too small ( im talking permanent housing). if this is true, what cichlids ( other than oscars) would you reccomend? I have very adequate filtration, so as long as i keep my water changes up, water quality wont be an issue.

I have a suspicion that you're looking for larger cichlids... so here are some of my suggestions

-severums, there are 4 variants, all are beautiful,
-electric blue jack dempsey if you can find one
-green terror, can hold one plus a a couple more same sized cichlids

your suspicion is correct, ive never dealt with small cichlids

the question still remains though, is my tank big enough for a jag?

permanant housing id say probably..no..i believe they need 125 gallons..but you could do green terrors, firemouths, convicts, geos, severums, midas, red devil, etc theres lots

Its gonna take a realy long time for a jag to outgrow that tank. I had a pair in my 150 with a verity of fish cichlids . you will be fine. I had midas in one end of my tank breeding that were aprox 10 inch in size. and a pair of jags i caught in florida canals. breeding in the other end. of the tank. with a polini jackdempsey a couple catfish swiming around and i never had a death from agression Just power outages;.

i think it would be fine for a jag.
