So its been a good two or more months since I last posted in regards to my Jaguar Cichlid and his refusal to eat. Well, he still barely eats. The fish is now completely blind in one eye. The HITH finally healed, or at least most of it. However this fish rarely swims around and barely eats. I still don't know what to do with this fish. Should I euthanize it to put it out of its misery? I am so lost on what to do. I don't know if the fish is suffering or not. But 95% of the time he sits on the bottom of the tank. Hell even my small Meekis pick on him from time to time. Its rare that I see him swimming around. Any ideas?

Any idea on age? It would be a shame to put it down. But two months is a long time. Have you run any meds for internal parasites?ie prazi pro? If not I'd try that.

If it has had these symptoms for 2 months it may be best to euthanize the fish. Buying meds and treating could end up being a lost cause and will be costly for a fish that will most likely perish anyways. It's always a tough call but you have to think of what's best for the fish.

The fish isnt that old. Its about 4 or 5 inches so its still young. As far as medications go, I treated for HITH and I cant seem to find Prazi-Pro anywhere. To be honest, I rather to medicate my whole tank. God forbid I mess up something and wipe my tank out.

Sorry to hear about the jag. I did not see your original post about him and could not find it. Can you elaborate a little more about his history and tank mates and tank parameters? I feel for you and hope I can help.

I had a jag that went on a hunger strike as well. I tried everything. The way I got him to start eating again was earthworms. Give them a try
