I think i want to get a Jag!

Would a 500ltr tank with a foot print of 6 feet x 1.5 feet be large enough to house a Jag for life? Would there be room for any other fish in a tank that size?
other fish i would like to keep with a Jag would be:
Texas, Green Terror, Jack Dempsy or a pleco, i know i cant keep all these fish in the mentioned tank but would prob just want to keep one other fish with the jag if possibale. Any other tank mates you van recommend?

So if you keep a Jag and feel like sharing your experiances i'd love to here them......whats there growth rate and how big do they usally get to? do u keep them with and other fish? if so how do the get along??

Cheers

Your tank should be fine for the Jag for life. And any of the tankmates You mentioned may work, it will just depend on the individuals.Personally I would try a JD and GT, then if necessary get rid of the one that doesn't work out when larger.

so u wouldn't even try a texas?
the combo that would be my first chioce would be a jag, texas and a pleco...

whats the average size jags get to in aquariums?

Jags are great and have awesome personality. Eat anything and beg for food like dogs. I have mine with silver dollars and a somewhat retarded jack dempsey. Just start them all the same size and your fine.

I have a 125gal and I have in it a 2 oscars and 1 Carpinits and 1 jag these are all about 2.5 in so far good but I will see when they get bigger

I for one have a 13" male jag. They are great fish and have amazing personalities. They grow pretty quick and gain aggression with size. I have my jag with a 7" female Texas mix, 3 convicts, and a pike (Jag can't stand the pike) and haven't had too many problems with the jag, convicts and Texas. But I would encourage you to NOT have the jag and Texas alone. Texas cichlids are tough, but a jag could end up killing it. Texas grow quite slow and Jags grow pretty fast. I would try some dithers in there along with your cichlids to "Pg" the violence they would do on one another.
Good luck with what ever you do though.
