I don't know, whether its a Midas or Red Devil (the store sold me a Red Devil, ten years ago) it has the best coloration of either one I've seen (unless blotchy is desirable, to me blotchy = ugly).

so a female will get to around 14"? i hav no problem getting a female if it will be comfortable in my tank. If a female jag can live comfortably in my tank, what kind of filtration will be best? thanks for all the feedback everyone

Go with an aquaclear 110 filter that will be fine. 14'' is pretty big mine always seen to slow down at around 8-9 inches. A female will do fine in the 100.

better dont believe it,,because there getting much bigger.
but u all gonna see it soon,,as soon as my cam is back from repair

and i dont tape it from topside...just like somebody asked,,,but i will take him out,and put a measureline beside it,,so everybody can see it,,,how big they can be

guy on another cichlidforum has a female of 40cm=16" "real lengt"
i dont need to bluff ,that my jags are big,,THEY ARE BIG!

ONLY REASON THAT THEY DONT GET SO BIG SOMETIMES IS A SMALL TANK

MIDAS AND RED DEVIL,, labiatum or citrinellum,,they breed in wild with eachother as well
so there are no much real labiatums in stores or whatever
a real labiatum with his fat lips in a V
de citrinellum got U lips ,and not so fat/thick as the "REAL" labiatums

the citrinellum in ur avatar is nice anyhow
i got a few of 13"

pics for proof, i have a female that's 14" and from my experience, that's BIG, i have NEVER seen a female over 14", let alone 16"- which 85% of males won't reach in captivity, rarely exceding 14-15".

10 inch salvini come on are you kidding?! lets see a pic.
male jags rarely get 15'' your measurements are all wrong for aquaria. Yea walleye have been recorded over 20 pounds but you don't see any of those in aquaria? do ya? What tank size do you suggest he get then? 220?300? LOL
100 gallons with an AC 110 will just fine.
