I’m planning on getting a 125 in the coming months with a Jaguar Cichild. I would like some species of Bichir, but I’m not sure they would survive with the Jag. Would Exodons work? Any other Jag tankmate suggestions?

Seriously. Jags are rough and a male will grow super fast. The exodons will be picked off one by one and the birchir would wish it was dead.

I wouldn't consider tank mates until the 180g+ size tank stage and that still may not work depending on how aggro your jag is. When it's small it may work but ca cichlids have a habit of having a psychotic coming of age party. One day everything's fine the next morning everybody is descaled and stuck to filter intakes.

Hmm... thanks for your remarks. I think I’ll just do a Male Jag in the 125. Their such pretty but violent fish.

Check this out. This is what a big jag does to a 125. The day I took this he decided to trash his whole tank. I had pothos in the back that he ripped roots off as short as he could. Notice all the water marks? That's from him splashing as I walk by. There's not enough room to share and not enough room for something to get away.

No prob. You can't go wrong if you like the looks and want a big personable cichlid

Thanks for your insight! (If I went along with my original plan it would end badly.) Nice looking Jag btw.
