Hey all, I picked up a male Jag at the weekend and the previous newb owner told me it was a female, he bought 'her' a male and had a few wounds cause they had a massive fight and he had to remove the male..
Well he had two males, but that's besides the point.
Basically there is a blob of blood in his cornea on one side, is this likely to cause any issues and will it heal up in time?

At the base of the eye, hardtop photograph.
Any dealt with this type of injury?

I would think that it will heal over time, but I have no personal experience with such an injury.

Thanks, I've read up on the same in humans and the blood generally absorbs back in, in due time.
Hopefully it's the same here.
Worth logging here for others with the same issue I guess.
Doesn't seem to be any info online about it.

Have no clue, mate. Sorry. It doesn't look threatening and to me it's hard to say whether it is surely blood. If the pupil was / is intact, which it looks to be, I think the eye will remain ok and functional. I see no inflammation, nor puss, which is also a good sign.

I've seen this before in large cichlids. It occurs from fighting or simply running into blunt objects in the tank (like driftwood). I don't know of any specific 'cure' for the condition other than maintaining proper temp and pristine water conditions to decrease the risk of secondary bacterial or fungal infections. There doesn't appear to be an open wound associated with the hematoma so, just let nature take its course and allow the 'bruise' to heal on its own.

I agree odd. keep stress reduced and pristine water. and hopefully and IMHO it will clear itself out.
