Jag with eroded nostrils

I am considering buying a 11" jag from a LFS. Very nice fish with a great attitude, but he has "eroded" nostrils. Both are enlarged and pitted, and kind of cavernous looking. No other hole in the head related pitting.

Is this reversible?

You can stop it from getting worse, and it may heal over to a degree, but it will scar and still be visible. If kept in good, clean water, it could be fine to live out a full, otherwise healthy life. If it's not too bad, save the poor guy, give him the cleanliness he deserves.
