I know this is the wrong section but I did not get any help in SA/CA section. IMG_0272.JPGIMG_0266.JPGIMG_0270.JPGIMG_0271.JPGI bought this little guy about 3 weeks ago. When I got him I am pretty certain that he was all there. I placed him in a 5g fry tank. I have been feeding him regularly and he has been eating fine. He has been on the bottom self so I have not really been looking at him that much. About a week ago I added an upside down catfish. So today I put him in his own 29g and noticed that his tail was missing. Do you guys think that the upside down catfish did it he is about 4in. Could it be and deformity or and old injury ?

probably something else. what else was in the tank with him before the 29? Don't worry, you can see he still has short fin rays in his tail. As long as you keep up regular maintenance you should be fine. make sure he's in an established tank first and foremost, not a brand new tank that hasn't cycled yet...

if there was nothing else in there with him besides the upside down catfish, and he was all good before you added the catfish, then that only leaves the catfish. I find it wierd but i guess it is possible. It will grow back though so dont worry.

Watch carefully, it could also be fin rot, but more than likely he'll be fine

It is so evenly cut! I'd say deformation. I could be wrong. But damage due to tank mates typically result in splits and longer rays then others. That looks fairly even. So again. Imma say deformation.
