In a dream
My friend has a 150 watt Tru Temp jager heater and when we got the heater i set the temp to 84 out of the box and put it in the tank. It worked fine for a week then last night he told me that the temp on the thermometer was reading at 90! I tried recalibrating it just in case and it was still doing the same thing. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Whats the ambient temperature (room temp)

Room temp is 74. The jager heater was set to 82 and he said when u got home last night it was reading at 87.7 again. I just dont get it. We had a 200 watt Stealth heater that was working fine but i didnt want to risk it so i told him we should run a jager heater. And now i have no idea what is going on.

Make sure you are using a reliable thermometer. The cheap glass ones seem to work great.

Are you checking his tank with your digital thermometer?

We both have digital thermometers. So yes the tank with the heater that has been going up to 90 degrees when set at 84 has a digital thermometer.

I've had 2 Jager malfunction on me like this. And another one that just stopped working...I know a lot of people swear by them, but I don't think I would get another one again.

i have two digital thermometers, and the were both off. I tested them with 3 different glass thermometers which read the same temp. I would recommend getting a glass thermometer just to be safe.
I've never had a problem with my jagers, i would call the company and talk with them.
