i just bought a jager heater cause ive been hearing they are pretty go and pretty cheap. i was setting it up and i have a couple questions.

1. the box says it submersible but then in the instructions it says do not submerge past water mark. so which is it? i mean why would it be advertised as submersible when it cant go all the way under water.

2. Does the red light mean its heating or it the red light always on?

Thanks

don't submerge the part with the controls. The rest is submersible. The light means it is heating

well that sucks, i was going to lay it in my future sump but if i cant submerge it, i dont know what im going to do...

They are fine to be fully submerged. The red light means that electricity is flowing through the heating wire.

sumbmerge it mine has been fine for over 7 years horozontal red light means its heating

Jager heaters should be fine submersed. I've had mine under water without any problems.

got a response from my email.

Q: I recently purchased a 250W jager heater. When I was installing it into my tank, I read in the manual and on unit itself, that the heater is not to be submerged fully. Now this is strange to me because on the box and on the website it says the heater is fully submersible. So I am a little confused, am I able to fully submerse the heater or not?

A:JAGER heaters are fully submersible according to European standards. However since the production of JAGER heaters was moved to Germany when EHEIM acquired the company, a new UL certificate must be issued for the “New” company. This new certificate must be issued to comply with the North American standards, until then the heater must be labeled as not submersible in North America. Please note that all JAGER heaters comply with ETL standards, which is the European Equivalent of the UL certificate.
