jags appetite slowed down

everything is perfectly fine in my tank all my parameters are on point I checked , 0 ammonia 0 nitrite 5.0 nitrates 79 degrees. my jags appetite is low. he just doesn't seem very interested in food its almost like hes spoiled or just content on a semi empty stomach. he used to eat like a cow now he eats even less than my 4 inch Cuban. hes 8 inches at the moment. is this normal.
 
what do you feed him?

My male jag is about 8 inches also, had him since he was a few months old. Only time he's ever refused to eat is when I gave him feeder fish 1 weekend and then he wouldnt eat his pellets. Was just feeding him frozen mysis shrimp and krill for a while and then decided to only feed him pellets until he took them again, took about a week of him not eating but I got him back on pellets. Is your jag showing any signs of internal parasites? Have you been feeding him any live foods recently?

my jag will not eat pellets, loves nightcrawler, meal worms and jumbo freeze dried krill soaked in vita chem over night, did take awhile to get him eat those. but those his staple now.

This, assuming the fish is healthy. My jag will eat anything I feed, but she hunger strikes from time to time. She's gone weeks without eating if she wasnt happy with her surroundings. Shes been put in time out and refused food.

All she eats are pellets, exclusively.

True. All the jags i had were aggro eaters. never did hunger strikes. maybe like a day will not eat. other then that eats pellets aswell(only thing i fed)

is the jag by its self or in a community?
 
what kind of pellets?
 
just curious, i have super cichlid pellets for oscar but do to the low protein in them I do not see them as being good for a jag, In my mind and i could be quite wrong, have always seen a oscar as a dog. need vegies and such in his diet and a jag as a cat, more protein.
