i got a pair of jags and the female just layed eggs i was wondering if there was any advice to make shure the they hatch and survive they are in a breeding tank alone and the male is about 6 to 8 inches and the female is about 4 to 5 inches

just let them be and try to have as little commotion around the tank as possible, since it is their first batch they will more than likely eat the eggs or newborn wigglers so don't be surprised, the first few tries are practice runs but they will eventually get it right and then just remove and raise fry in separate tank once they are free swimming (though they grow faster when with their parents so i would leave them with their parents as long as possible) what size is the tank as that will factor into how big the parents will allow the fry to get before they start to eat them (once they are experienced)

thats great sounds like they are being pros already, i just said that because a lot of first timers get upset and think something is wrong when their new parents eat the eggs so just wanted to make sure you knew that was normal and nothing to be worried about just in case, and couple days after they are free swimming you can feed by feeding with Hikari first bites or crushing up flake food, parents should also feed them by crushing up food and filtering it out through their gills to the fry, also refrain from cleaning algae off deco with new fry as they will also scrounge around and eat the algae

yeah im having that problem with a jewel pair i have, only reason i have the frikin fish is so they will breed and give me feeders but they keep on eating the eggs they are about to go to the petstore lol GOOD LUCK with your jags though
