CALIFORNIA!!!!
two jags both around 4 inches, keep hiding, but one of them chases the other alot. the one thats chasing is scared of me, so hides two different caves, only to come out and chase the other one (which isnt scared of me and eats) the bigger one hasnt eaten because the smaller one eats the food while the big one is hiding.

i dont regret adding the big jag yesterday, since its really pretty with green and purple (see below) but 1) is jags hiding 80% of the time normal? i added 1 2 days ago, the other 1 week ago.
2) would getting more jags solve aggression? or maybe some other dither fish like jack dempsey or something...maybe increase temperature? its 77 now. some websites say good temp is 80-100 F but thats ridiculous to me... its in a 110 gallon tank

also there's two caves but the bigger one hogs both of them.... :p

dont worry. Give them at least 2 more weeks before caring that they hide. They need to get comfortable with their surroundings, their schedule etc. Theyll come around. Wouldnt hurt to raise the temp to 80, but not needed. if you get dithers, make sure they are at least as big as the jags. If it were me, Id get 4 male convicts..or 4 females..they could be smaller than the jags and still work. Cons make great target fish/ dithers.

thanks for the advice, calming my fears a bit

3 fish stores didnt have convicts so i just got a small texas, they said it was tough even though i think its pretty ugly so well see ^^ off to maybe get some more jags hopefully i will get a breeding pair

Your Jags will come around. Let them settle and they'll behavior will change. I miss my old Jag sometimes. My new stock is still a little skittish like yours. It's something that I hope that they also grow out of. They can be quite boring to see.

i had a texas with my female jag and it just got punked until it stopped eating. put him into a different tank but by then he was too stressed to eat and died after a month or so. kind of a shame, theyre pretty fish
